Community Impact

Clutch is Committed to Our Community

Clutch Solutions is committed to our community and embraces the Indigenous philosophy of The Seventh Generation. This concept encourages sustainability by considering the impact of our words, work, and actions on the seventh generation to come and honoring the seventh generation that preceded us.

We practice this philosophy both internally and externally by forming strong partnerships with strategic OEMs that share our commitment to sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Robert L. Backie Scholarship

The Robert L. Backie Scholarship provides educational opportunities for American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian students.  Established in honor of Clutch CEO & Founder Garrette Backie’s father Robert.

An elder member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, Robert Backie established a co-op training program for minority students interested in tooling design and automotive engineering in his home state of Michigan. Backie also founded a student scholarship trust fund to support native high school graduates from low-income families attending GMI, General Motors Institute / Kettering University in Flint, Michigan.

Clutch is committed to continuing the legacy that was built by Garrette Backie’s late father, Robert, and hopes this scholarship will help Native Americans and other underrepresented youth pursue their passion for technology.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Two years ago Ashley began volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles, a youth empowerment organization whose mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Ashley says, “it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the impact we can make in a child’s life. My little one is really passionate about tech, and it’s been amazing to explore that passion together. It’s not just about teaching her skills; it’s about nurturing her curiosity and showing her that she can achieve anything she sets her mind to.”
